Attic Insulation Installers in Rowlett, TX

About US Elite Clean Banner

Elite Clean and Restoration offers Removal and Installation of Fiberglass and Cellulose Insulation, both of which have great R- Value. R-value measures how well certain building insulation materials can resist heat. The higher the R-value, the greater the  insulations performance.  Ensuring that the insulation in your attic, walls, basement and crawlspace is installed properly is one the best ways to improve energy efficiency in your home.

RADIANT BARRIER

A radiant barrier is a type of building product that reflects thermal radiation and reduces heat transfer. Since thermal energy is also transferred via conduction and convection, radiant barriers are often supplemented with thermal insulation products that slow down heat transfer via conduction or convection.

Radiant barrier reflects heat radiation (radiant heat), preventing transfer from one side to another due to a reflective, low emittance surface. In building applications, this surface is typically a very thin, mirror-like aluminum foil. The foil may be coated for resistance to the elements or for abrasion resistance. The radiant barrier may be one or two sided. One sided radiant barrier may be attached to insulating materials, such as polyisocyanate, rigid foam, bubble insulation, or OSB. Radiant barrier sheathing, which is plywood or OSB board with foil adhered to one side, is often used in new homes, with the foil facing into the attic space. Additionally, reflective tape can be adhered to strips of radiant barrier to make it a contiguous vapor barrier, alternatively, radiant barrier can be perforated for vapor transmittance.

The Radiant Barrier that we use at Elite Clean and Restoration is a liquid that is sprayed on to create the same effectiveness as the foil mentioned above. We spray the liquid paint inside the attic on the walls. This cools the attic and saves up to 15% or more on A/C bills. This Radiant Barrier is moisture permeable, mold-resistant, electrically non-conductive and is abrasion resistant, therefore; unaffected by rodents, birds and insects.

ATTIC INSULATION: CELLULOSE

Cellulose Insulation offers many advantages to your home such as its R- Value of R 2.6 per 100mm (metric) which is better than glass wool or rock wool. In addition to its great R-Value, Cellulose also provides sounds insulation by providing mass and dampening. This reduces the lateral movement through sheetrock and the passage of sound along cavities. Cellulose also contains borates which provides added control against mold as well as giving Cellulose the highest (Class I) fire safety rating. Cellulose can last 20 to 30 years.

ATTIC INSULATION: FIBERGLASS

Fiberglass is made from silica and other fine glass materials that have been stripped into fibers allowing it to be incredibly flexible. The millions of natural air pockets between the fibers trap heat and keep it from escaping. Fiberglass also provides high amounts of flexibility during manufacturing, allowing the R- Value to be changed to your needs. The advent of “blown in” fiberglass has eliminated many of the issues that the installation brought with it in the past. By blowing in the fiberglass there’s no need for the use of a vapor protection backing because it receives natural protection, meaning there is no longer a threat of flammability. In addition to the flame retardation, fiberglass also no longer uses formaldehyde as the binding agents which caused the “fiberglass itch” it is well known for. It now uses a natural and plant-based binding agent instead. The lifespan of old-fashioned fiberglass is well known for lasting 10 to 15 years without replacement. Now than fiberglass can be blown in, this prevents the settlement and sagging that occurs with the traditional batts of fiberglass which allows it to last even 80 years.
